The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
